500000 kilowatt photovoltaic power generation in Yecheng, Xinjiang

2023-11-13

At 17:7 on November 3rd, China Petroleum Tarim Oilfield has built the largest external clean energy supply new energy station with installed capacity - the 500000 kilowatt photovoltaic power generation project in Yecheng, Xinjiang, which has been successfully connected to the grid at once, marking the successful completion and grid connection of China Petroleum's largest photovoltaic power generation project with single installed capacity. This will help to promote the transformation and upgrading of local energy structure, industrial structure, and economic structure, Promoting high-quality development of local economy and society is of great significance.

The 500000 kilowatt photovoltaic power generation project in Yecheng County, Kashgar Prefecture, Xinjiang is a key project in the new energy industry for Tarim Oilfield Company to implement the Party Central Committee's carbon peak and carbon neutrality decision-making deployment, implement new development concepts, and promote high-quality development. It is also a key project for the construction of a 10 million kilowatt photovoltaic base in Kashgar Prefecture. The project covers an area of 15000 acres and officially started construction on April 30th this year. It includes one photovoltaic power station, one 220 kV booster station, and a supporting 500 megawatt hour energy storage station.

Cui Wei, Deputy Manager of the New Energy Business Unit of Tarim Oilfield, said, "The project is expected to generate an annual electricity output of 930 million kilowatt hours, and all generated electricity will be transported to the State Grid for market-oriented consumption. The green electricity generated each year is equivalent to replacing 300000 tons of standard coal, which can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 726000 tons, sulfur dioxide emissions by 160 tons, and nitrogen oxides by 180 tons

During the construction period, Tarim Oilfield overcame unfavorable factors such as large engineering volume, short construction period, difficulty in equipment supply, and high temperature wind and sand. Measures such as standardized design, modular construction, standardized construction, and grid management were taken to promote the efficient progress of design, manufacturing, and construction processes. In late September, it passed the acceptance inspection of the renewable energy power generation project quality supervision station and was qualified for grid connected power generation.

Xinjiang is rich in new energy resources such as wind and light, and is a large-scale clean energy base promoted in the national "14th Five Year Plan" and the 2035 long-term goal outline. Among them, the exploitable amount of solar energy resource technology ranks first in the country. In recent years, Tarim Oilfield has focused on the "dual carbon" goal, fully utilizing the natural advantages of the South Xinjiang region such as good solar energy resource endowment and abundant available land, accelerating the pace of green and low-carbon transformation and development. Following the three-step strategy of "clean substitution, strategic succession, and green transformation", it adheres to the principle of energy conservation, consumption reduction, carbon reduction, and green expansion (internal slimming and physical fitness), and the construction of the "Shage Waste" new energy base (external clean energy supply), Promote the large-scale, high proportion, and market-oriented development of new energy, and comprehensively increase the total energy supply equivalent. This year, the cumulative production of green electricity has exceeded 170 million kilowatt hours.

The Gobi Desert in Tarim Basin is gradually becoming a fertile land for new energy development. According to statistics, the Tarim Oilfield has built a 200000 kilowatt centralized photovoltaic power generation project in Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, and a batch of distributed photovoltaic power stations have been built in single wells and oil and gas stations in the oil region, gradually forming a new pattern of green, low-carbon, clean, efficient, and multi energy complementary supply. It is reported that the Tarim Oilfield has successfully obtained the 2 million kilowatt green power grid indicator, and the Jiashi 600000 kilowatt photovoltaic project is accelerating construction. A new trend of "700000 kilowatts in operation, 600000 kilowatts in construction, and 2 million kilowatts in control" has been formed, and the ability to ensure clean energy supply will be further improved.
